I’ve always loved a good checklist…
But I think that there’s a misconception out there that if you start something (like tracking your habits/eating/exercise) it means that you have to do that every single day for the rest of your life, if not you’ve failed somehow.
I don’t think it works that way. In fact I know it doesn’t. Between all the helpful tools I’ve gathered over the years, there’s no way I can do them all – all the time. Or track everything – all the time… So let’s get real and just do what works for you.
Here’s what I do: I chose something to focus on and I do that until I feel better or get the results I wanted. Right now for my business for instance, I’m tracking how many sessions I have and how many people I invite to a coaching conversation…
I also track my habits for success, I know if I do these things consistently I’ll feel good. Again, I want to stress that it doesn’t mean I have to do them every day, but I would say maybe 4 out of 7 is good enough. If some weeks I only got 1 out of 7, I might want to reconsider that action or think about what’s holding me back from doing it, if it’s really a priority.
