Goals + Daily Action = Achieving Your Dream

Maybe you’re moving away from something (I don’t want to end up like my cousin) or moving towards something (I want to look like that)? It doesn’t matter to get you started as long as your motivation is coming from a desire that you want things to be different. Your reasons for wanting this goal has to be greater than the comfort of staying the same.

Do you know the reasons for goals? Try asking yourself why you want a certain thing, and then ask why you want that and then ask why again until you uncover the true reason for setting about a goal.

Being able to imagine yourself after your goal is accomplished is very important. It’s like giving the brain GPS directions to your destination, this is what it looks like where we’re going.

S.M.A.R.T GOALS

You’ve probably heard about smart goals?

SMART goals are:

  • Specific: Well defined, clear, and unambiguous
  • Measurable: With specific criteria that measure your progress towards the accomplishment of the goal
  • Achievable: Attainable and not impossible to achieve
  • Realistic: Within reach, realistic, and relevant to your life purpose
  • Timely: With a clearly defined timeline, including a starting date and a target date. The purpose is to create urgency.

You can easily find a smart goal form online, I’ve used one many times. I also like this form, which is similar to the SMART goal, just asking the questions a little bit differently. Try and see which one works best for you.

The bigger point with these exercises is training yourself to find solutions and take into account all aspects of your goal. It’s not enough just saying “I want to go to the gym” we need details and planning for it to actually happen.
